Joyeuses fĂȘtes

In this holiday season, and what is extraordinary is that it is the festival for many people, so Eid Mubarak, happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas to everyone.

And since the festival, so I'll post an exceptionally small chronic fouad. Happy reading and happy holidays to most everyone.

's son and secretary

One of the most famous poets in the Netherlands is called Mustapha Stitou. He became famous when he had the privilege of reading one of his poems before Queen Beatrix and all constituted bodies during ceremonies commemorating the end of the Second World War. His poem was titled Freedom, simply. Since

Mustapha Stitou is invited everywhere to read his poems, which he does very well. It converts these readings into a kind of happening, with subtle facial expressions and a staggering sense of rhythm, it's very funny and very compelling.

But if I speak today Mustapha is that I heard a story quite moving. Since he was little, he has stopped asking questions to his father. Of questions about everything from questions about people, about nature, about himself. Now the father, good Moroccan immigrant first generation, is very shy, very reserved. It does almost no questions, he merely grunt to mark this or that question is off limits.

And then time passed, the father took the age and the boy became a young man. The weight of years has felt the parent who has not had an easy life. After all, he was selected to his village in the Rif through his muscles and his good dentition. He had to work hard to earn a living in the North and had left part of his health. In short, the doctor visits have become frequent. And since the father does not speak a word of this strange idiom of Batavia, it must be that his son should accompany him. Ditto regarding the appointment with the insurance, pension funds, various administrations. Each time, the son carries a satchel briefcase which is expanding day after day, he speaks of his father, negotiates, explains, translates ...

However, the father is still in its reserve. When the son asks him on his youth, his life, his wife, his inner thoughts, it closes like a clam.

And then one day, Mustafa had a great idea. So after the umpteenth visit to any administration, he replaced his father's papers in his briefcase, put it back to it a question about his youth. But he immediately added that clarification:

- I do not speak to you as a son but as a secretary. I am also your secretary, right?

The father is a bit surprised, he hesitated a little then he laughs and responds willingly to the question.

Since that day, the two men play the game When Mustapha wants to know something about the past of his father, he is careful to wait until they are not at home, where they are somewhere in an anonymous building , waiting for an official wants to get well. Mustapha waving his briefcase is a kind of password which means

- I speak as a secretary.

Appearances are saved, the father responds willingly to questions, even more intimate.

Like what, in a globalizing world, where children have other references their parents, sometimes just a role play so that the communication be established. It's optimistic reading of this little anecdote. But is not it strange and a little sad, having to go through to get a fiction to reality?
